CD Bodhrán Insight
Bodhrán Insight - the title in itself is explicit as Guido Plüschke and Rolf Wagels wish to share with their listeners an insight into the art of bodhrán playing. The bodhrán, fascinating to the music world because of it's versatility of sound, is an Irish frame drum which is played with a single stick. Although this seemingly archaic instrument looks easy to play, the technique is in fact quite complex, and requires a high degree of musicality to master. The aim of this collaboration by these two exceptional musicians is to demonstrate the extensive possibilities of the instrument. "Bodhrán Insight" comprises of 18 tracks on which the Irish rhythm produced on the bodhrán is the main feature. The CD has a running time of 78 minutes and is mostly a compilation of tracks from various recordings which featured Guido or Rolf. However, it does also include previously unreleased tracks which feature the bodhrán as a solo instrument. Despite the large following and lovers of this drum, there has been to date very few productions dedicated solely to the bodhrán. In addition to the accompaniment of songs, the focal point of the bodhrán is to support what's known in the industry as "sets" of tunes. The comprehensive booklet includes explanations as to what they are playing, or the idea behind what they are playing for each of these sets, sharing with the listener an insight into their methods and techniques. For anybody wanting to experience versatility in bodhrán playing this CD is a must. It is not only fascinating to listen to these two musicians, but also impressive to hear their high standard of playing. Glücklicherweise gibt es inzwischen in Deutschland wirkich viele Möglichkeiten die Bodhrán zu erlernen und es dabei zur Perfektion zu bringen.
Hier möchte ich Ihnen zwei Lehrer vorstellen die es auf Grund ihrer langjährigen Erfahrung als Musiker und Lehrer ganz an die Spitze in der Bodhranszene geschafft haben. Viele Hundert zufriedene Schüler werden betätigen dies! In diesem Jahr feiern sie ihr 10 Jähriges Bodhrán Weekend Jubiläum !
Guido Plüschke, 1968 in Hamburg geboren, ist ein gefragter Dozent der irischen Rahmentrommel Bodhrán, die er seit 1990 spielt. Er unterrichtet in ganz Deutschland und Europa und vermittelt seit 1996 in unzähligen Workshops sein Können und seine Spielfreude an Interessierte jeden Alters und jeder Spielstufe. Neben den praktischen Aspekten der irischen Rahmentrommel setzte er sich 2004 im Rahmen seiner Magisterarbeit an der Universität Lüneburg mit der Entwicklungsgeschichte der Bodhrán auseinander. Er gehört zweifelsohne zu den wenigen Spielern, die sich in der Theorie wie auch in der Praxis sicher bewegen.2008 gewann er den 3. Platz bei den World Bodhrán Championships in Milltown/Kerry Irland. Damit ist er der erste Nicht-Ire, der jemals in das Finale gekommen ist und eine Trophäe von der grünen Insel mitbrachte.Guido ist ebenfalls ein beliebter und geschätzter Studio- und Gastmusiker. Neben seinen eigenen Bands den Celtic Cowboys, Trasnuund den Lighthouse Lads, deren Mitbegründer er ist, wirkte er unter anderem an nationalen und internationalen Produktionen der Künstler Dessie Kelliher, Garifin, Pipeline, An Tor, Falk-Andreas Eckhardt, UKW Band und Lecker Sachen mit. Ferner spielte er bereits mit folgenden Künstlern und Gruppen: Gerry O´Connor (Skylark), Brendan Power (River Dance), Sessions From The Hearth, Maeve Donnelly (Moving Cloud), Harriet Bartlett, Allan McDonald, Damien Mullane, Dessie Kelliher, Déirín Dé, Ian Smith, Stephen Campbell, Siobhán Kennedy und Jens Kommnick. Er war ebenfalls 17 Jahre Bandmitglied von Garifin. Rolf Wagels
Spielt seit 1993 und gilt als einer der besten Bodhrán-Spieler Europas. Er gibt seit 1996 im ganzen Bundesgebiet Workshops, ist Mitglied der hochgelobten Gruppen Cara, Steampacket und DeReeliumC, und spielte in Deutschland bei verschiedenen irischen und deutschen Gruppen als Gast- und Studiomusiker (u. a. Joe Burke & Anne Conroy, Kevin Crawford, More Maids, Templehouse Céilí Band und An Tor). Mit Cara war er seit 2007 fünfmal für mehrere Wochen in USA auf Tournee und auch nach März 2010 geht es für zwei große Festivals (Rocky Mountain Irish Fest und zum zweiten Mal Kansas City Irish Fest) im August erneut nach Amerika. In Irland geniesst er den Respekt von Leuten wie Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh (Altan), John Joe Kelly (Flook), Kevin Crawford (Lunasa), Meabh O'Hare & Conor Byrne oder dem Fiddler Stephen Campbell. Auch war er in der Dokumentation des irischen Fernsehsenders TG4 über Bodhranmaker Seamus O'Kane vertreten und wurde 2007 an die renommierte Musikhochschule Royal Northern College in Manchester eingeladen, um dort die Bodhrán in einem Workshop und einem gut besuchten Vortrag vorzustellen. Als erster "ausländischer" Bodhrán-Lehrer unterrichtete er 2005 bei der größten Bodhrán-Summerschool "Craiceann" auf den Aran Inseln in Irland, ebenso 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 und 2010. Die Kurse
Die Kurse richten sich an alle Bodhráninteressierten: vom blutigen Anfänger bis zum Fortgeschrittenen, der noch neue Tipps und Spieltechniken mit nach Hause nehmen möchte. Nach einer kurzen Einführung steht die Vermittlung der Technik des Bodhrán-Spiels im Vordergrund, aber es wird auch auf das Zusammenspiel mit anderen Musikern (Session), sowie auf Strukturen und Begleitmuster in der traditionellen irischen Musik eingegangen. Anhand von Musikbeispielen werden die unterschiedlichen Rhythmen der traditionellen irischen Musik vorgestellt und Stile des Bodhrán-Spiels aufgezeigt. Leihbodhrans sind vorhanden.
