First of all I want to say THANK YOU to Seamus O´Kane and David Draeger. Our new Effect tipper designs are very much influenced by their ideas, designes and work. We didn´t copy any of their products but wanted to offer a new appendix to this kind of tippers. Details
N-EF 1 - 35 € - 20 gr. A very special one-sided "split stick": sounds very present with a clear and defined "click".
Made of purpose selected "Makassar Ebony". The special thing about our clickstick is the equal click-sound, no matter how you hold it. It reacts very, very quick and makes it also very easy to change the click sound from a decent, quiet to a strong and powerful CLICK by sensitive and dynamic playing. The secret of this special tipper is the slightly sloping split circular around the tipper and the ingenious top hole which only makes the flanks of the head clicking.
It is intentional and technically relevant that this tipper comes with ony one clicking end and that we don´t use a rubber ring for "adjusting the click intensity" (as we do with our "hotrod" tippers). In this case it would only limit the balance- and dynamic qualities of the stick.
The tipper comes with a full lenght rubber coating for better grip which also stabilise the tipper and avoids a break-away of the flanks.
For both "Kerry" and "singleended" playing styles.

N-EF-1 head:
N-EF 2 "Hi-Hat" - 40 € - 22 gr.
One of my own new favourites ! The sound of this "Makassar Ebony" split tipper with built-in beech center is less "clicky" than the N-EF 1 and more defined / present than a "Hotrod" tipper. If you close your eyes you think you hear a Hi-Hat of a drumkit. This tipper produces a louder and warmer bass than a usual tipper but gives more attack than a "Hotrod" tipper. Also very high "plopps" are easily to play without loosing the "tsch" of the Hi-Hat sound. This tipper incorporates the qualities of many tippers in one very unique effect tipper. ...I just love it :o)
The conical grip gives a kind of self-locking effect for the tipper hand (fingers) and makes your playing more relaxed and easier.
For both "Kerry" and "singleended" playing styles.

N-EF-2 head:
NEW N-EF 8 "Dynamic" - 40 € - 18 gr.
Basically, the tipper head is similar in construction to the N-EF-2 model except the head contains more material and tails off in an arch. This results in more presence and an earthier click, producing an overall rounded tone and offers deeper bass than the N-EF-2 model. While the N-EF-2 'HiHat' as the name suggests, is designed primarily to give an even, decent click (similar to the sound produced by HiHats), the N-EF-8 model focuses more on creating a more dynamic sound. Therefore, this tipper is ideally suited for soft playing (very little click) as well as for powerful, dynamic playing. Very little exertion is required to extract a very loud tone from the drum. How does this function? The relatively large playing area of the tipper, combined with the unique individual sound of the flanks ensures a full rounded tone and stimulates a variety of natural vibrations. Due to its light design, the tipper can be used with little or no exertion. The grip is designed in such a way to enable all playing styles and tipper holders to play very comfortably. Players who like using the SW3 model will really enjoy playing with the N-EF 8 model.

Some information about our following brush/wood tippers:
A usual "hotrod" tipper alway produces the sound of a couple of dowells. Depending on the beat intensity more or less dowells, quiet or loud.
The "big thing" about our brush/wood tippers and the difference to "hotrod" tippers is the combination of "tsch" sound and the wooden attack sound of a normal tipper. So these tippers offer the possibility to create basic groove rhythms with really strong accents made by the solid wood head of the tipper.
Even for unexperienced bodhranii it is very easy to create a realy groovy rhythm with just a basic beat pattern !
All of our brush/wood tippers are only "one-sided" because of blance- and sound reasons.
All tippers shown on this page are made of "makassar ebony" but are also available in Snakewood for an extra charge of 10 Euros.
N EF 3 - 35 € - 20 gr. Original China Bristle" on the top. (Chinese pig bristles, cooked) Very soft "tsch" sound, the attack of wood is dominat in the overall sound. Soft and sexy sound, perfect for song accompaniment. Ca. 23 cm long (plus brush)
NEU N EF 4 - 35 € - 20 gr. "Original Mexican Fibre" on the top. (Fibres from the mex. Agave). Very natural overall sound with more "tsch" than the N EF 3. Universal Brush-Effekt-Tipper for all playing styles. Ca. 23 cm long (plus brush)
NEU N EF 5 - 35 € - 22 gr. Very thin synthetic bristles with large spread angle. Balanced percentage of "tsch" and wood attack. Little bit more "tsch" than N EF4. Designed predominantly for double-ended playing. Ca. 22 cm long (plus brush)
NEU N EF 6 - 35 € - 19 gr. Medium thick synthetic bristles with small spread angle. Lively "tsch" and defined wood attack. Designed for single-ended and "combined" playing. Ca. 23 cm long (plus brush)
NEU N EF 7 - 35 € - 19 gr. Strong synthetic bristles with medium spread angle. We also call it the "chili" tipper :o) Present "tsch" and defined wood attack. Designed predominantly for single-ended playing. Hot and lively. Ca. 23 cm long (plus brush)
A few notes:
"Will the clicking flanks break ?" "Will the bristles break ?" "Will the plastic bristles bend by and by ?" "Will the bristles drop out ????????? "
All these special tippers are produced to the best knowledge and belief, and after lots of practice- and stress-tests. And we spent a lot of thoughts on selecting the materials, before we decided those final designs were ready fo serial production. Nevertheless, we have to admit that the tippers will not have an unlimited life time. The life time will be depending on how the tipper will be treated. So here are a few hints:
Both, the N-EF-1 and the N-EF-2, come with a protection sleeve, which is supposed to make a breaking of the flanks nearly impossible. However, we saw "impossible" things happening before, so we kindly ask you to think of the tippers as fine musical instruments, and to play, transport and store them with the necessary respect and carefulness.
All these tippers come with wonderful skills and sound capabilities. Those are only possible because the tippers have a certain amount of flexibility and hence fragility. For that reason we cannot provide a life time guarantee. Please remember that, for example, guitar strings or the hair of a fiddle bow, neither have an unlimited life time and need to be replaced from time to time. Nevertheless, we guarantee that the wonderful qualities of those tippers will make them indispensable to the creative bodhránii.
The N EF 4 is equipped with extremely hard wearing, natural herbal fibres. Protecting them from direct UV radiation (just don't keep it for days on your window sill...) will extend their life time immensely! Also a few drops of good olive oil carefully applied to the bristles will keep them flexible for a very long time.
Initially, one or another occasional fibre of the N EF 3 and N EF 4 could possibly drop out. This is absolutely normal and unsuspicious. The fibres are glued in tender and conscientiously by hand, but it can easily happen that a small number of "runaways" will not attach themselves to the glue... ;o)
All of the plastic bristles can easily straightened again, if they became "single-sided" by and by.
