Production

At this point I wish to inform you a little about how we produce our tippers. We have given serious though to our planning, paying careful attention to detail, quality and service. We are very satisfied with our results and feel justified in calling ourselves “quality tipper makers”
Although I as Bodhran-maker have developed all tippers on offer, and am responsible for obtaining, selecting and and pre-cutting the wood as well as catering for the customers, the person mainly responsible for making our tippers is Stefan Moises:

A sought after drummer and percussionist, Stefan has shared the stage with some of the big names in the business. As a member of the band "Schariwari" he has toured extensively with their own highly-successful stage-production of "Bayerische Rauhnacht", a bavarian mystical tour.
Stevie not only works turning and shaping my tippers now but also works on production of the LightLineBodhrán series.
For a number of years now, Steve has also been creating his own line of drumsticks which he not only plays but also they have also become a favourite among many percussionists and could be best described as the drummer`s insider tip.
Stevie is one of the founders of the world famous percussion maufacturing firm TROYAN Drums and consequently has gained extensive knowledge in woodworking, dum-making and intrument-making skills.
I first got to know Steve while traing as a cabinet maker. Since then we have collaborated on a variedty of projects together, creating and designing wood, artistic and musical projects.
The expert knowledge and experience applied by two expert craftsmen is clearly evident in the tippers and bodhrans produced and the quality exceeds all expectations.

Our range of tippers which are shown on the following pages have been created after long and exhaustive testing and trail-runs using a variety of woods and tipper designs. We have collaborated with professional bodhran players and naturally have applied and incorporated our own practical experience.
We pay close attention to environmental safety. We use natural oils and beeswax for the surface area of the tipper. We avoid the use of any lacquers which are prone to becoming brittle and dull. Wax tends to remain elastic and as it matures in time shows a brilliant shiny finish.
Our beech tippers are made from the home-grown common beech.
Naturally everyone knows that woods such as makassar ebony, rosewood and snakewood are not indigenous woods. Here again, we are environmental conscious. We always aim for optimum yield from the raw materials and work with the materials accordingly.
Ebony and snakewood materials have always been an integral part of instrument-making i.e in the making of fingerboards, tuning pegs, bows for violins, etc. The use of such materials can therefore not be considered an enviormental threat or to cause ecological damage when used in such small quantities and for such special purposes. Futhermore, the makassar ebony used by us is a so-called leftover-product which accumulates at the veneer wood production stage.
We will be happy to answer any further questions per e-mail.
We are happy to be present our wide choice of tippers to you and thank you for showing interest in our ranges.
In case you don`t find your dream tipper in our catalogue, we will be happy to design your own personal custom-made tipper according to your very own special specifications.
